Giclée Print - St Peter's Seminary, Drift
This work depicts the derelict St Peter's Seminary building in Cardross. Built in the 1960's by architectural firm Gillespie, Kidd and Coia, the building received many accolades due to its design including an RIBA award. Despite this, the building has remained vacant since the 1980's.
Starting with a rigidly linear perspective drawing, the artist uses a variety of techniques to construct the surface. Poured, smeared and dripped paint is layered alongside measured responses to the subject, creating an interplay of chaotic and orderly marks. This approach reflects the building's entropy as architecture is consumed by nature.
